Georgianna Achilles, Ph.D.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Georgianna Achilles, child psychologist, to our team at MidStep.

Dr. Achilles joins us from Fairfax, VA where she served as the Director of Research Development at ChildHelp, a national non-profit agency dedicated to the prevention and treatment of child abuse.

Dr. Achilles is experienced in treating behavioral and emotional problems in children and adolescents, with specialized training in child abuse treatment.  Her clinical work is integrative, using play therapy, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness based techniques, as well as positive parenting approaches, to improve the social-emotional functioning of kids.

Georgianna recently moved to State College with her husband and two young children, and we are grateful to have her expertise and enthusiasm with us!

More information will be available online shortly.  Feel free to call our office to inquire about her current service offerings at 235-1100.

What’s New at MidStep!

February 27th, 2009

Welcome to our new website - I hope you like it!

Our child psychologists at MidStep have been serving families in Central Pennsylvania for the past 15 years.  We are a group of independently practicing child and adolescent psychologists who remain committed to the common mission of providing kids, families, and communities with the means to live happier and more fulfilling lives.

Now we have created a new website that more directly and simply shows you who we are and what we do.  Each psychologist will maintain his or her own page, describing their services, background, and how to access their services.  Downloadable forms are available on each doctor’s web page, so you can better prepare for your first appointment.

Our upcoming parenting classes and workshops will always be listed for you on our home page, as well as pre-registration forms should you be interested.

You will also find clear directions to our two office locations - in State College and Altoona - conveniently available to you as well.

And this blog page will serve as a fun and friendly place for our clinical staff to give you updates about topics of concern, newsworthy articles, inspirational stories, and answers to your most common questions and concerns.  We look forward to this being an interactive forum, where our staff and parents and teachers in the community may chat about important topics in child development and mental health.

Finally, don’t forget to sign up for my upcoming e-newsletter, “KidStep Connections” - where yours truly will provide personal stories, professional advice, and practical tips about caring for kids in today’s ever-crazy world.

Have thoughts, questions, or suggestions?  Topics that would interest you?  Let us know.

Let’s go exploring, together!

Cheers, - Dr. Peter
